Assalaam alaikum,

 

I am pleased to inform you that Australia's crescent sighting website as a
NATIONAL Coordination Centre has been officially launched, ahead of the
upcoming lunar month of Dhul Hijja. I am also pleased to inform you that
ANCSCC will provide logistical support and expert advice about monthly
crescent sighting to New Zealand and Fiji (sightings in those areas are not
considered for Australia).

Whilst ANCSCC is currently facilitated by al-Ghazzali Centre, its function
is independent of Al-Ghazzali Centre. The services for crescent sighting
provided by al-Ghazzali Centre to date will now be transferred to ANCSCC,
and I would like to thank all those who have supported and assisted in our
efforts on crescent sighting. If you have any enquiries about ANCSCC or next
lunar month's crescent sighting, please email to
crescentwatch at alghazzali.org. 

 

Also, I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that al-Ghazzali
Centre has launched a preview online platform to promote next year's
International Year of Astronomy (2009). Al-Ghazzali Centre is working with
Australian universities and observatories to host programs next year to
raise awareness as well as acknowledge the role of the Islamic Civilisation
in the development and advancement of Astronomy. Please go to our website at
