Dear Friend

The next meeting will be an important highlight  -- a presentation and
discussion on Shi'ah by a noted, internationally recognised authority.

 

MELBOURNE CITY CIRCLE

SUNNI/SHI`AH  UNITY  IN  ACTION

Brother Ali will address:  Theological misconceptions.  Shi`ah perception of
Islamic unity.  Practical examples from Muslims for Peace in Sydney.

 

He received his PhD in Political Science (Middle East Politics) from
Macquarie University in 2000. Since 1970, he has held research and teaching
posts at Australian universities.

 

He was Academic Editor of The Journal of Arabic, Islamic and Middle Eastern
Studies, published by Deakin University and is currently Research Officer of
the University of Western Sydney's Students Association.  He lectures
extensively among Muslim youth, in his association with Muslims for Peace.
Recently he represented Australia and presented a paper at the Third
Conference of the Rights of the Palestinian People in Iran.

 

Brother Ali has published several books and scholarly articles ranging
widely on Middle East subjects.

WHERE: ISLAMIC COUNCIL OF VICTORIA, 66-68 JEFFCOTT STREET, WEST MELBOURNE

 

Special Note: During the football season, City Circle meetings may not
always be held on the first Saturday of the month. When there are clashes
with the AFL and games at Telstra Dome, another day will be selected. This
prevents us having problems with crowds and parking.

 

There should be no worries on June 10, and ample parking is usually
available next door.

 

I hope you and any interested friends can join us for what will be a
stimulating occasion. And if you can contribute to the refreshments, you
will be doubly welcome!
